# Articles and checks

Generate a draft, inspect its checks, get it approved and schedule publication.

## Generate and read the draft

Article creation uses one article of the plan and previews the cost first. Read the draft itself as well as its status. Replace ids with values from your company’s list commands.

```
recala article create --topic <topic-id> --dry-run
```

```
recala article show <article-id> --markdown
```

```
recala article status <article-id>
```

## Understand checks and holds

Publication readiness considers approval, the active named author, open holds and the current article content. Checks can require review or block publication. Read the specific reasons returned for your article; a generated draft is not evidence that every claim is correct.

Read open questions and comments, verify sources, and ask the client for missing facts. Use revisions to address the issue, then inspect the updated draft and checks.

```
recala article comments <article-id>
```

```
recala article versions <article-id>
```

## Submit, revise and approve

Assign a real signing person, then submit for review. A request for changes can trigger regeneration when review is required. Approval signs in the named person’s name and records the actor.

```
recala article submit <article-id>
```

Follow [Review an article](https://recala.co/developers/guides/review/) for the complete approval sequence. AI edits use a paid model call, limited to three per article; keeping an AI draft is a separate `article edit --apply` action.

## Schedule the approved article

There is no separate `article publish` command. Scheduling sets a future publication time in the company’s timezone. A readiness preview changes nothing; a saved schedule can publish without asking again.

```
recala article schedule <article-id> --at <future-local-time> --dry-run
```

Check the [calendar](https://recala.co/developers/calendar/) for its slot. If a write returns `outcome_unknown`, read the current state before doing anything else.
